Memory in Progress

Sunday night: two in the morning.
After fourteen days of scanning i hold a blueprint of my memories of Asia. These photos will privilege some memories over others, but then again, they were also taken at moments that did distinguish themselves from others. Selection after selection leaves me with fragments of my experience, fictionalized into narrative in order to be presented as something whole. And all the while connecting the interior with the exterior. Wordless relationship between real time and the timeless. The suggestion of non existing worlds while observing the specific. In hours that are enlaced in my new days, in which i search for words in three different languages and pack up a life that has been reconstructing itself over the last year. At times facing fractions of the self, clear as unexposed film. Then, a pause, a carousel of colors, in which i turn but can't hold an image. They're gone before i reach them. I look back at myself, slides of words i never meant to say, nights that left no trace. And in the now, these keepsakes, of future longing. These unfinished poems, these thirty-five millimeters of remembering, oh, i hold them dear... But not quite as much as knowing that somewhere in other worlds someone feels time the same way.
